Mark Stephens

AIKEN, SC -- MARK STEPHENS, 79, beloved husband of Maxine Sullivan Stephens died Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at his residence. A native of Blairsville, GA, Mark was a son of the late Reverend Harvey Dakota Stephens and Leila Pierce Stephens. He had lived in Aiken since 1961 and was a retired production supervisor at Owens Corning Fiberglass. He was a member of Millbrook Baptist Church and the adult choir. Mr. Stephens kept very active after his retirement as a cabinet maker and woodworker. He loved gardening and fishing. Survivors, in addition to his wife, Maxine, include three daughters, Janet Usher. Knoxville, TN, Sandra Gossett, Aiken, Catherine (Martin) Johnson, Aiken; a son, Greg (Jane) Stephens, Aiken; 8 grandchildren, Blake and Wes Usher, Chase and Lea Ann Gossett, Allison Johnson, Lauren, Gregory and Andrew Stephens; 2 great-grandchildren, Brooke and Blaire Usher and a sister, Cora Dixon, Marietta, GA. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Thursday at Shellhouse - Rivers Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Friday at 10:00 AM at Shellhouse - Rivers Funeral Home with The Reverends Michael Dyar and Dexter Lambert officiating. Interment will follow in Southlawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his grandsons and nephew, Charles Rogers.
