Ronald Frank Meditz

AIKEN, SC -- Ron F. Meditz of Aiken and Prosperity SC, passed into God’s loving care on December 22, 2010. He was born to and is survived by William and Elizabeth Meditz of Mentor OH on August 23, 1951. He married his high school sweetheart, Marilou in 1971. Together they raised 3 children, Robyn (Doug) Webb, Maggie (John) Catoe and Michael (Laura) Meditz. He is loved as “Papa” to grandchildren Jordan, Douglas, and Madison Webb; Will and Ellie Catoe. He was a quiet and humble man who was loved as a father by many. Ron is survived by his sister, Lisa (Larry) Kunkel of Aurora OH and his brothers Ken (Michelle) Meditz of Chicago IL, Robert Meditz of Mentor OH, James (Marlene) Gaffney of Land O Lakes FL, his 106 year old grandmother Anna Zirkelbach of Bradenton, FL as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister-in-law Linda Meditz. In 1984 Ron moved his family to Aiken SC to work for FMC Corp as an engineer then was diagnosed in 1989 with Parkinson’s Disease. During the final stages of Ron’s illness he treasured the times he spent with Marilou reading him stories on the couch cuddled up with her. His greatest joy was his time with his children and grandchildren. Ron always looked forward to each 4th of July on Lake Murray. Ron’s family would like to express their appreciation for the loving dedication over the last 2 years of Pam, Cheri and Wanda from Regency Hospice, and his physicians Dr. Kamel and Drs. Zotovic. Marilou would also like to thank Jean of St. Mary’s HOC Catholic Church. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 PM Monday and hold a brief service at Shellhouse - Rivers Funeral Home, 715 East Pine Log Rd., Aiken, SC before the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary’s Help of Christians Catholic Church at 2:00 PM Monday.
