AIKEN, SC -- PEGGY JO LAMBERT, 82, widow of Joel C. Lambert, died Friday, December 24, 2010 at Medical College of Georgia Hospital.
A native of Miami, FL, Mrs. Lambert was a daughter of the late Oliver Perrin and Peggie Frazier Shands, she was also the step-daughter of the late Jessie Nevers Shands. While she was still in high school worked at Boeing Aircraft in Miami building Bombers during World War II. She was a graduate of Lander University and had lived in Aiken since 1955. Mrs. Lambert was a retired school teacher with the Aiken County School District. She was a member and former president of AAUW (American Association of University Women), member of Cherokee Nation and was a pilot. She was a member of South Aiken Presbyterian Church and formerly sang in the choir.
Survivors include a daughter, Betty L. (Byron) Walters of Dewy Rose, GA, a son, Joel P. (Monique) Lambert, Aiken, eight grandchildren; Shannon Smith, Stephanie Reeves, Erin Preciado, Robyn Lambert, Shay Lambert Thacker, Byron P. Walters, Jr., Leah Waltgers and Haley Walters, seven great-grandchildren, two sisters; Dorothy Steckline, McKinney, TX and Nancy Blair, Pauline and a sister-in-law, Beverly Nevers of Ocala, FL.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Tuesday at Shellhouse - Rivers Funeral Home on Pine Log Rd.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2:00 PM at South Aiken Presbyterian Church with The Rev.'s Dr. Christopher Crotwell and Dr. Bob Pettit officiating. Interment will follow in Aiken Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Mike Spears, Chris Spears, Gary Smith, Jason Reeves, Shay Thacker, Jordan Lambert and Christian Reeves.
