Anna Michele Poda

MT. PLEASANT, SC - Anna Michele Poda, of Aiken, SC and Charleston, SC, died December 31, 2010, at The Hospice Center of Charleston in Mount Pleasant, SC. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. George Alex Poda; her son, George Alex Poda, Jr., and her brother, Dr. Charles Theodore Michele. Mrs. Poda was born in Roanoke, VA, February 27th, 1924. She was the daughter of the late Theodore and Jennie Michele. She graduated from Pierce College in Philadelphia. She was a member of St. Thaddeus Episcopal Church. Mrs. Poda worked with the Aiken Womens Heart Board, Town and Country, Aiken Assembly, and participated in numerous bridge, golf, and tennis groups. She was an active community volunteer. Surviving are her sister, Della Michele Theodos of Orange, CT; a sister-in-law, Zoe Poda Michael of Fairfield, CT; a daughter, Debbie Poda Lyles and her husband, Thomas, of Mount Pleasant, SC; a son, Steven M. Poda, of Aiken, SC; her daughter-in-law, Dr. Janice H. Poda, of Columbia, SC; six grandchildren: James T. Lyles of Bronx, NY; Elizabeth S. Poda of Irmo, SC; Andrew P. Lyles of Atlanta, GA; Michael, Alex, and Courtney Poda of Aiken, SC. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, January 8th, 2011, at St. Thaddeus Episcopal Church with a reception immediately following the service in the Stevenson McClelland Parish House.
