Helene "Butch" Armour

AIKEN, SC – HELENE BROWN “BUTCH” ARMOUR, 86, of Aiken, beloved wife of Charles Maynard Armour, Sr., died Tuesday, March 6, 2007 at her residence. A native of Oyster Bay, Long Island, NY, Mrs. Armour was a daughter of the late Paul Russell and Estelle Harvey Brown. She had lived in Aiken since 1955. She began the Aiken Newcomers Club in 1972 and continued for 25 years, until 1997. She was a member of All Saint’s Anglican Church and a member of Houndslake Country Club. Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a son, Charles M. Armour, Jr., Aiken, a daughter, Cathleen Margaret Armour Broom, Roswell, GA, a sister, Jane Estelle Peck, Shandon, CA and three grandchildren, Chad Matthew Armour, Charles Jason Broom and Megan Elizabeth Broom. Funeral services will held from the graveside in the Historic Bethany Cemetery, Sunday at 2:00 PM. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Saturday at the funeral home.
