AIKEN - Mr. Maurice William "Bud" Hartnett, Jr., 86, died Wednesday, January 19, 2011 in Atlanta, GA.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday at First Baptist Church with the Reverend Dr. Fred W. Andrea III officiating. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall following the service.
M.W. "Bud" Hartnett was born in Williamsport, PA, a son of the late Maurice W. and Ann Drabick Hartnett. He served in the United States Air Force, and was retired from the DuPont company with 39 years of service as the Construction Project Manager on several major sites in the U.S. and abroad. Throughout the years he was an active member and leader of several business and professional associations. Bud was an avid golfer and was given Sportsman of the Year award in 2009 from friends at the Woodside Plantation Country Club. He had been a member of the Palmetto Golf Club, the Green Boundary Club, the Highland Park Golf Club (now Aiken Golf Club) and was currently a member of the Woodside Plantation Club and the Les Ames Social Group. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Aiken.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Lou Foust Grant Hartnett; children, Bob Hartnett (Devan), Mission Hills, KS, Charlene Ross (Ralph), Mesa, AZ, Dotty West (Pete), Aiken, SC, George Grant (Susan), Atlanta, GA, Kelli Grant (MaryAnn Koopman), Carmel, NY; grandchild, G. Henry Grant, III, Atlanta; two sisters, Sister Maurice Hartnett, IHM and Sister Lisbeth Hartnett, IHM, both of Scranton, PA.
