Douglas C. Rearden

AIKEN - Mr. Douglas C. Rearden, 89, died Sunday, January 23, 2011. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Wednesday in the Shellhouse Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Carl Hayes officiating. Interment will follow in Graniteville Cemetery with military honors. Pallbearers will be members of the American Legion Post 212. Mr. Rearden was born in Graniteville, SC, a son of the late Cyril Cedric and Corrie Lou Williams Rearden. He was a Reactor Operator for E.I. DuPont at the Savannah River Plant, and then an Instrument Technician Specialist for the Graniteville Company He also served in the US Navy during WWII. Mr. Readen could always be seen walking along Richland Ave. to visit his many friends and acquaintances, and would always wave to the folks that honked their horn at him. He is survived by his beloved wife, Linda Tullis Rearden; a daughter, Nancy Rearden Sanders, Aiken; step daughter, Sheila Graham, Aiken; a granddaughter, Rebecca Ann Hite; step grandchildren, Joseph Graham and Jacqueline Watkins; great grandchildren, Shyanne Marie Hite, Kholeman Graham, E.J. Watkins, Gabriel Watkins, Christy Watkins, Misty Watkins. In lieu of memorials, Mr. Rearden asked that everyone share food with the hungry, and kindness and understanding with everyone.
