AIKEN - Mrs. Marilyn Bergen Doremus, 68, died Sunday, February 6, 2011.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 Thursday, February 10, 2011 in the Shellhouse Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Phillip Lee officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the Green Boundary Club.
Mrs. Doremus was born in Washington, DC, a daughter of the late John P. and Emily Ann Timberlake Bergen. She was a graduate of the Rumson Country Day School, the National Cathedral School and Bennett Junior College. She was an elder of First Presbyterian Church, Red Bank, NJ, founder of Operation Mustard Seed, member of Aiken Polo Club, the Green Boundary Club and was a member of Aiken Steeplechase. She also attended Cedar Creek Church.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Charles Albert Doremus; a daughter, Tracy Ann Love, Lakewood, NJ; two sons, C.P. (Amy) Doremus, Oceanport, NJ, Trevor (Jennifer) Doremus, West Long Branch, NJ; four grandchildren, Kevin Hercules, Amaya Love, Navaeh Love and Trevor Doremus; a brother, John. PO. Bergen, Jr., Avon Lakes, OH.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Salvation Army, 322 Gayle Ave. NW, Aiken, SC 29801.
