AIKEN, SC -- RICHARD JOSEPH NORTON, 93, widower of Elise Qualls Norton, died Monday, February 14, 2011 in Warrenton, VA.
A native of Binghamton, NY, Mr. Norton was the son of the late Richard J. and Nellie Donahue Norton. He was a Sergeant in the Army Infantry and Air Corps during World War II. He moved to Aiken, South Carolina in 1952 to work for DuPont at Savannah River Plant and retired in 1982 as a production foreman. He served as past-chairman of American Society for Metals, and was a member of DAV Chapter 43 in Aiken and VFW Post 5877. Mr. Norton moved to Warrenton, Virginia in 2005.
He is survived by a sister, Ruth Doyle of Endwell, NY and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Saturday, February 19 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at Shellhouse - Rivers Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 1:00 PM in Aiken Memorial Gardens.
