Eula Lee Smith Gunter Wood

AIKEN, SC -- EULA LEE SMITH GUNTER WOOD, 85, widow of William Tracy Gunter, entered the Gates of Heaven Saturday, February 19, 2011 at Pepper Hill Nursing Home. A native of Lexington, SC, Mrs. Wood was a daughter of the late Mark M. and Essie Corder Smith. She had lived in Aiken since 1945, and was retired from Graniteville Company. She was a faithful and dedicated member of Clearwater Branch Baptist Church where she formerly served as WMU Prayer Chairman, Sunday School Class Secretary and worked in the nursery and with the outreach committee. Survivors include two daughters; Linda (Jimmie) Green and Lillian Rees, two sons; Melvin (Sherri) Gunter and Martin Jean) Gunter, a sister, Geneva Quattlebaum, all of Aiken, eight grandchildren; Shannon Conaway, David Young, Steven Young, Ashley Gunter, Kristy Preissler, Casey Barton, Anthony Gunter and Kim Cadden and a number of great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Martha Busch and a grandson, Al Gunter. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 3:00 PM at Clearwater Branch Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy Wingate officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends Tuesday at the church from 2 to 3 PM.
