Carol Jean Rigsby

NEW ELLENTON - Ms. Carol Jean Rigsby, 52, passed over Saturday, February 26, 2011. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM Tuesday in the Shellhouse Funeral Home Chapel, Hayne Ave. with the Reverend David Hardy officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Carol was born in Charmco, WV, a daughter of the late William and Ellen Marie Spears Rigsby. She had been a resident of the Aiken area since 1977. She was one of the first two women hired by the SCDOT. Carol is best known for her outrageous sense of humor, her never ending talk on every subject under the sun; but, she is especially known for her overtly generous, kind, loving heart. She was an aspiring artist and a prolific composer of poetry. She "fought the good fight and finished the race", and stepped into the arms of our Lord on Saturday, February 26, 2011. Survivors include her son, Ashton Hart Rigsby, New Ellenton; two sisters, Sheila (Bruce) Caldon, Aiken, Leona Rigsby, Aiken; beloved friend, Ashton's Godmother and sister in Christ, Laurie Balbag; numerous nieces and nephews.
