AIKEN - Mrs. Ruth Eichel Scott, 88, died Sunday, February 27, 2011. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM Thursday at First Baptist Church with the Reverend Dr. Fred Andrea III officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the church parlor. Private interment will be held in Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Scott was born in Stuttgart, Germany, a daughter of the late Karl and Else Haenel Eichel. She was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, Grady R. Scott. A registered nurse for 40 years, she worked at the old Aiken County Hospital where she progressed from surgical staff nurse to operating room supervisor. She continued her nursing career as an ICU nurse until she retired from HCA Aiken, now Aiken Regional Medical Centers, in 1988. She was also a member of First Baptist Church, Aiken, and a member of the Truth Seekers Sunday School Class. Mrs. Scott is survived by her three daughters, Janet S. Knox, Aiken, Susan S. (Henry) Holsomback, Aiken, Linda S. (Barry) Campbell, Aiken; 11 grandchildren, Kristin K. (Matthew) Dutton, Emily K. (Eric) Jarinko, Jennifer C. (Chris) Binder, Jessica L. Holsomback, Jordan H. Holsomback, Nathan S. (Margaret) Campbell, James K. Campbell, Courtney L. Campbell, Michelle Holsomback, Gabriel M. Holsomback, Ashley H. (Billy) Godfrey; three great grandchildren, Benjamin M. Dutton, Ellis C. Binder, James Scott Campbell. The family has requested that memorials be sent to First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 3157, Aiken, SC 29802.
