AIKEN, SC -- VIRGINIA LOTT HOLLEY, 86, widow of Thomas T. Holley, Sr., died Sunday, March 6, 2011 at Lila Doyle Nursing Care Facility in Seneca, SC.
A native and lifelong resident of Aiken County, Mrs. Holley was a daughter of the late John Wilkes and Willie Mae Fox Lott. She attended Winthrop College for two years before entering Duke University School of Nursing. She earned her master's degree in Public Health Nursing from The University of North Carolina. Mrs. Holley began her career in nursing at Aiken County Hospital before working 33 years at the Aiken County Health Department where she was District Nursing Director for Aiken, Barnwell and Allendale Counties. She was a member of Aiken's First Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Alice H. (Carl) Brandenburg, Seneca, SC, a son, Thomas T. (Janette) Holley, Jr., Wichita Falls, TX, five grandchildren; Thomas T. Holley III, Anthea E. Holley, Martin K. Brandenburg, Carl M. Brandenburg II, and W. Keller Brandenburg and a sister, Hollace L. Fleetwood, Aiken, SC. She was preceded in death by four sisters; Lena L. Fox, Lucy L. Fulmer, Roxie L. Chinners and Grace L. McMichael and two brothers; Harold E. Lott and John Lott.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 AM at Aiken's First Baptist Church with The Rev. Fred W. Andrea III, Ph.D. officiating. Interment will follow in Levels Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tom Holley, Tommy Holley, Thomas T. Holley III, Andrew Fleetwood, Woody Day and Greg Anderson.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
