AIKEN, SC -- THOMAS JACKSON CLEATOR, 80, beloved husband of Sarah Papenbrock Cleator, died Monday, March 7, 2011 at his residence, surrounded by his family.
A native of Chicago Heights, IL, Mr. Cleator was a son of the late Thomas Edward and Agnes Jackson Cleator. He was a 1952 graduate of Northwestern University and was a U. S. Army veteran of the Korean War Era. Mr. Cleator had been a resident of Aiken since 1984 and was a retired human resources director. He loved his family. He was a loyal fan of the Chicago White Sox and Bears. He loved opera, classical music and was a Civil War buff. He was a member of Woodside Country Club, where he enjoyed playing golf with his family and friends
Survivors, in addition to his wife Sarah, include two daughters, Merle (John) Weckwerth, Milwaukee, WI,and Melissa Moeckel, Toledo,OH, sons; Mark Moeckel, son-in-law, Mark Patton, Aiken, SC, Thomas (Maria) Cleator, Williamsburg, VA and Dr. John Henry (Maureen) Cleator, Nashville, TN, seven grandchildren; Michael Weckwerth, Joseph Weckwerth, Katie Weckwerth, Molly Weckwerth, Lauren Cleator, Caitlyn Cleator and Ervin Moeckel, a brother, Bruce Edward "Spike" Cleator, Chicago Heights, IL, two nieces, Donna Aleck and Linda Kolakahula and two nephews, Scott Cleator and Robert Cleator, all living in the Chicago area.
Funeral services will be held friday at 11 am at St. Thaddeus Episcopal Church with The Reverend Joseph Whitehurst officiating.
Following the service the family will receive friends at Woodside Plantation Country Club for a celebration of life.
