AIKEN – Mrs. Vivian Smith Verenes, 83, of Aiken, died Thursday, April 26, 2007 at Eden Gardens. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM April 28 at St. Thaddeus Episcopal Church. The Reverend Ella Breckenridge will officiate. Interment will follow in Historic Bethany Cemetery downtown Aiken. Mrs. Verenes was born in Gaffney, SC, a daughter of the late Vaud and Beulah Ballenger Smith. She moved to Aiken in 1952, and taught with the Aiken County School System and at St. Angela’s Academy. She was a member of St. Thaddeus Episcopal Church. Survivors include her son, Dick (Pam) Verenes, Aiken; a sister, Catherine Flow, Leesburg, VA. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Thaddeus Episcopal Church, 125 Pendleton St., Aiken, SC 29801.
