NEW ELLENTON, SC -- THOMAS FRANKLIN SAPP, 82, widower of Odessa McClain Sapp, died Saturday, March 19, 2011 at his residence.
Mr. Sapp was a son of the late Willie F. and Lottie Tyre Sapp. He was born and grew up in Wayne County, Georgia, and served in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Sapp moved to New Ellenton in 1951 and went to work at the Savannah River Site. He was a retired control operator with DuPont. He was lifetime member of the New Ellenton Masonic Lodge, was a former coach and president of New Ellenton Youth Sports. He was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church and a former member of Jaycee's. He loved to hunt and fish.
Survivors include two sons; Mike (Sandra) Sapp, New Ellenton and Mark (Tanya) Sapp, Martinez, GA, a granddaughter, Shara (Lamont) Gregory, two great-grandsons; Jordan and Isaiah Gregory, two sisters; Virginia Ogden, Odum, GA and Myrtle (Willie) Deal, New Ellenton and a brother, Billy (Jean) Sapp, Screven, GA.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 AM Monday, March 21, 2011 in the Fellowship Hall of St. Paul United Methodist Church followed by funeral services at 11:00 AM from the graveside in the church cemetery with The Rev. Tresco Shannon officiating. Honorary Pallbearers will be Dewayne Deal, John Arbaugh, Terrell Eaves, Willie Deal, Pete Tucker and David Bryant.
