AIKEN, SC - Answered God's call and entered into eternal rest on April 23, 2011.
Mr. William Hastings Grice, Sr., 82, of Aiken, husband of Mary Posey Grice. He was the son of J.G. Grice and Sallie Cushman Grice, both deceased. He was born and raised in Aiken.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary Posey Grice; a daughter, Brenda Grice (Weldon) Wyatt, Aiken, a son, William Hastings (Mary Ann Rudnick) Grice; three grandchildren, Ashley Wyatt Donaldson, Thomas Wyatt and Lauren Wertz; six great grandchildren, Hanna Wertz, Wels Donaldson, Mary Bren, Wyatt and John Donaldson, Grice Wyatt; two sisters, Elizabeth Bridges and Blanch Parrish.
Mr. Grice cut meat in Aiken for 51 years. He was also owner of Grice Butcher Shop having served three generations of customers. He was an avid golfer before his health failed, and member of Aiken Golf Club. Mr. Grice was a faithful member of First Baptist Church and a member of the Retreads Sunday School Class. He was a special and loving husband, father and grandfather all his life.
A celebration of his life will be held at First Baptist Church on Tuesday at 2:00 PM with the Reverend Dr. Fred Andrea III officiating. Interment will follow in Bethany Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Ted Groomes, George Zachmann, David Butler, Tom Wyatt, Charles Hightower and Woodrow Sweeney. Honorary pallbearers will be the Retreads Sunday School Class.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 3157, Aiken, SC 29802, or Regency Hospice, 105 Summerwood Way, Aiken, SC 29803, in honor of Mr. Grice.
