Wilson Woodrow Moseley

February 5, 1924 — April 25, 2011

AIKEN - Mr. Wilson Woodrow Moseley, 87, died Monday, April 25, 2011. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Friday in the Shellhouse-Rivers Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Dr. Robert Byrne officiating. Interment will follow in Historic Bethany Cemetery. Mr. Moseley was a lifelong resident of Aiken, and a son of the late Charles Augustus and Birdie Chapman Moseley. He was a painting contractor for over forty years in the Aiken area, and served with the US Army during WWII. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, gardener and loved to work and stay busy. Mr. Moseley is survived by his beloved wife, Thelma Rawl Moseley; two sons, Glen (Patricia) Moseley and J.B. (Sara) Moseley, of Aiken; five grandchildren, Joe Ben (Melanie) Moseley, Wilson Bradley Moseley, Jacob Moseley, Tiffany M. (Tommy) Holley, Annette M. (James) Busbee; Four great-grandchildren, Caleb, Mckenzie, Lane, and soon to be Wilson ; a sister, Ina Mae Powell, Warrenville; a brother, Edward Boozie (Edith) Moseley, Aiken; Sister-in-law, Pauline Thompson Moseley, Aiken; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Moseley and two sisters, Florence Jackson and Audrey Roberts. Wilson and his family are direct descendents of William Moseley one of the original settlers in what was to become Aiken, SC, He owned and ran the first store/trading post on land that was deeded to him for his service in the Revolutionay war. Pallbearer's will be Tim Chapman, Walley Chapman, Jeff Cone, Chris Hagan, Patrick Laorenza, Neal Moyer, Keith Sandifer, Steven Woiczechowski. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bill Cone, Dupree Lawton, Wayne Moseley, Holley Perry, Sam Roberts, James Scott, Jimmy Stewart . Memorials may be directed to the Aiken SPCA, 401 Wire Rd., Aiken, SC 29805.
