AIKEN, SC -- JEAN HALE, 73, beloved wife of Robert V. "Bob" Hale, died Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.
Born in Topeka, KS, Mrs. Hale was a daughter of the late William and Audrea Mae Kidwell Haller. She grew up in Beaverton, OR and was a cousin of the original Reser family which founded Reser's Fine Foods. She worked in the family business making potato salad while growing up in Oregon. Jean later joined the U.S. Navy WAVE's after the Korean Conflict and was stationed in Corpus Christi, TX, where she met her husband Bob who also served in the Navy. They moved to Aiken in 1968 and she was co-owner of Gentry Instruments, Inc. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Aiken Ward where she was a librarian.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a daughter, Gaylene H. Wilson, Lexington Park, MD, two sons; Russell L. (Alice) Hale, Aiken and Robert L. Hale, Atlanta, four grandchildren; Hunter Robert Hale, Paul Michael Hale, Emma Grace Wilson and Anna Kaye Hale, two sisters; Ellen Rae (Frank) Loomis, Sheridan CA and Lois Ridgeway, Bessemer, AL and a brother, Harry (Jeannie) Haller, Warren, OR.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Friday at Shellhouse - Rivers Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2:00 PM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Aiken Ward. Interment will follow in Southlawn Cemetery.
