AIKEN, SC - MR. JOHN J. “JACK” DORR, 76, of Aiken, beloved family man and husband of Willa Berrie Dorr, died Sunday, May 20, 2007 at Pepper Hill Nursing Home.
A native of Augusta GA, Mr. Dorr was the son of the late Victor A. and Caroline O’Garmon Dorr. He had been a resident of Aiken since 1955. In the early 1950’s he played guard and tackle for the University of South Carolina prior to being drafted into the Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Jack coached football at St Angela Academy in the early 1970’s. He was a disabled veteran and retired from Graniteville Company.
Survivors in addition to his wife include a daughter Caroline D. (Mike) Fulmer, two sons, John Andrew (Deidra) Dorr, and Patrick L. (Karen) Dorr, two grandchildren, Jeremy Michael Fulmer, and Madeidrea D. Dorr all of Aiken, a sister, Sr. Maria Rosa Dorr, Emmettsburg, VA, a brother, Victor O’Garmon (Mary Jane) Dorr, Richmond, VA, Sister-in-Law Louise B. Berrie, Aiken, SC, two Brothers-in-Law Andrew Dreelin III, Richmond, VA and William (Nell) Berrie Aiken, SC. He was preceded in death by a sister, Ann D. Dreelin and a brother-in-law, Marvin Berrie.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday May 23, 2007 at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Shellhouse-Rivers Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the historic Bethany Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Tuesday at Shellhouse-Rivers Funeral Home, 715 East Pine Log Rd., Aiken, SC.
