Haggerty, Elizabeth (Betty) passed away May 18, 2007, in Aiken, S.C. She
celebrated 92 years of life. She was born in Allegheny, NY, the daughter
of Leo and Marie Fassnacht. She was the devoted wife of Jack Haggerty who
preceded her in death. She is survived by her six children: Phil and
Carol Haggerty, Aiken, SC; Maureen Haggerty, College Station, TX; Jim
Haggerty, Clearwater, FL; Teri and Larry Kiehna, Collierville, TN; Kate
and Michael MacDonald, Knoxville, TN, Anne and Tom Schippers, Traverse
City, MI; 13 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She had two
sisters, Clare Thomas, of Orlando, FL, and Jane who preceded her in
death. Her family will miss her dearly. She was a laboratory and x-ray
technician in New Jersey where she met her husband, Jack, and they were
married for 56 years.
In Morristown, she was an active member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church.
She contributed to her community in many ways, including Red Cross
Volunteer and Girl Scout Leader. Betty was known for her many acts of
kindness and encouraged her children to be kind and helpful. Friends may
wish to honor her memory, by performing a special act of kindness to
others.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Friday
morning May 25, at 11:00 am by the Reverend Bill Casey. Interment will be
in Jarnagin Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Church
Friday morning from 10:30 until 11:00 Friends wishing to express
sympathy may do so through memorial donations to the Knights of Columbus
Mentally Challenged Tootsie Roll Foundation, St. Patrick's Catholic
Church, 2518 West Andrew Johnson Highway.
