AIKEN - Mr. Robert "Bob" Platt, 71, entered into rest on Friday, May 27, 2011 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers. Beloved husband of Cecile Seigler Platt, and son of the late Edward E. and Julia Burney Platt.
Bob was a graduate of Leavelle McCampbell High School in Graniteville. He received his pharmacy degree from Auburn University "War Eagle!". He enjoyed his pharmacy career in the Aiken-North Augusta area until his recent retirement. His hobby for over 30 years was working as a Reserve Officer for the Aiken City Police Department and then the Aiken County Sheriff's Department.
He was the beloved father of Bryan Platt, Tommy (Rhonda) Platt, Chrissie Platt (Clark) Alexander, Ed (Jill) Platt. He was "Pa" to his special grandchildren Katelyn and Megan Platt, Noah Platt, Ashley, Julie and Leary Platt.
He is also survived by his sister Julianne Platt Gilstrap; nephews, David (Hope) Platt, Aiken, Doug (Leslie) Gilstrap, Sweden, Jim Gilstrap, Greenville, George Platt, Jacksonville, FL, Bruce Platt and Lynn Platt, Tallahassee, FL, his aunt, Mildred "Boo" Gambrell, and cousins Ann Hall, Jim Gambrell and Randy Gambrell.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Charles E. Platt and Edward E. Platt, and nephew Charles Platt.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday at St. John United Methodist Church, Graniteville, with the Reverend Alan Quarles officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
The family has requested that memorials be made to the American Red Cross, 1314 Pine Log Road, Aiken, SC 29803.
