Joan Margaret Enloe Sims

NEW ELLENTON, SC -- JOAN MARGARET ENLOE SIMS, 77, affectionately known as Mama, Maggie, Nanny and JoJo, died Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at her residence in New Ellenton. A native of Winnsboro, SC, Mrs. Sims was a daughter of the late John Edgar and Leila Mae Bland Enloe and the widow of Robert L. "Bob" Sims. She retired from the Savannah River Site and was a member of Foreman Memorial Baptist Church. Mrs. Sims was an avid member of the Gamecock Club for over 35 years. She was proud of all of her grandchildren and great-granddaughter, and she loved to travel. Survivors include her dearest friend, Robert "George" George, New Ellenton, SC; three daughters, Robbie Sims Garritano, Aiken, SC, Marty Sims (Tony B.) Brittain, Lake Murray, SC and Susan Sims (Tony R.) Risher, Lexington, SC; seven grandchildren, Heather Peacock, Aiken, SC, Jessica Peacock (Eric) Greenlee, Aiken, SC, Ben (Brittany) Risher, Lawton, OK, Sarah Risher, Charleston, SC, Zack Sims, Aiken, SC, Ashton Sims, North Augusta, SC and Alex Sims, North Augusta, SC; a great-granddaughter, Sadie Caroline Risher and her soon to be baby sister, Lawton, OK, her beloved pet, Speckles and numerous friends and relatives. In addition to her husband Bob, she was preceded in death by her son, Robert "Scooter" Sims, daughter, Jane Brooks Sims and son-in-law, Joseph Garritano. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00 AM at Shellhouse - Rivers Funeral Home with The Rev. Brantley Bryant officiating. Interment will follow in Southlawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Arbaugh, Tim George, Eric Greenlee, Jeremy Breaux, Tony Brittain and Tony Risher. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ben Risher and Zack Sims. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be directed to a favorite charity.
