William "Robbie" Floyd Robinson

New Ellenton, SC – William Floyd ‘Robbie’ Robinson, 82 passed away on Sunday, July 3, 2011 at his residence from a short battle with cancer. He was born in Lancaster County, South Carolina on January 17, 1929 and was raised in Lancaster until he moved to New Ellenton, SC in 1952 to start his career at the Savannah River Site. He is greatly loved by his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, family and friends. Mr. Robinson served as Music Director and Sunday School Director at Pineview Baptist Church, New Ellenton, SC until he moved to Corinth Baptist in New Ellenton in 1971, where he was a member of the senior’s choir, taught Men’s Classes and was a past Deacon. In his earlier years he was a member of a Gospel Quartet “Vocal Airs” where he traveled throughout the southeast to spread the gospel through his songs on TV. Mr. Robinson was a very talented musician and played guitar, piano, and horns. Mr. Robinson retired after 33 years of service from the Savannah River Site Construction Division as a sign writer superintendent. He served in the United States Army during the World War II era with the 11th Airborne Division and was stationed in Sendai, Japan with the 10thTransportation Company. Mr. Robinson is predeceased by his loving wife Catherine Horton Robinson, his parents William Michael and Hattie Ballard Robinson, great-granddaughter Whitney Tucker, brothers Frank, Jake, George, Melvin, and Paul Robinson. Mr. Robinson is survived by his son William Michael “Mike” (Pat) Robinson of Lexington, SC, four daughters Elaine "Kricket" (Don) Arbaugh of Aiken, SC, Sharon "Shay" (Ed) Ball of Clinton, TN, Wanda "Jo" (Rick) Burckhalter, Cindy "Sis" Stanley both of New Ellenton, SC, and a sister Evelyn Bowers of Lancaster, SC. He is also survived by his grandchildren Mark (Dana) Arbaugh, Todd (Melina) Arbaugh, Cherity (Jerry) Robinson, William Floyd “Robbie” Robinson, Chad (Mary) Ball, Magan Huskey, Tonya (Ray) Tucker, Trapper (Gail) Feldman, Ricky Burckhalter, Brandi Miller, Trent (Amanda) Hutto, thirty-three great grandchildren and a very special loving friend, Lou Kirkland. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at Shellhouse - Rivers Funeral Home. Services will be held at Corinth Baptist Church on Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at 11:30 AM with Pastor Brancie Stephens and Pastor Mike Bell officiating. Interment will follow with Military Honors in the church cemetery. The Pallbearers will be Mr. Robinson’s grandsons, Mark Arbaugh, Todd Arbaugh, Chad Ball, Robbie Robinson, Trapper Feldman, Trent Hutto and Ricky Burckhalter. Honorary Pallbearers will be Corinth Baptist Men’s Sunday School Class. The family would like to give special thanks to Infinity Hospice and ResCare Home Care of Aiken, SC for the exceptional service they provided to Mr. Robinson during his illness.
