Aiken – Mr. Charles Osborn Warner, 84, of Aiken, died Friday, June 15, 2007 at Cumberland Hills.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 Am Monday, June 18, 2007 at First Presbyterian Church. The Reverend Dr. David Cozad will officiate. Interment will be held at a later date. The family will receive friends in the church parlor following the service.
Mr. Warner was born in Carneys Point, NJ, a son of the late Philip and Emilie Osborn Warner. He served in the US Army with the 3rd Ranger Battalion in World War II, and was a POW in Germany. He moved to Aiken in 1953, and worked as a chemical engineer with E.I. DuPont at the Savannah River Plant. He was a past member of the Aiken Rotary, the 50 Plus Club and was a former Man of the Year with the Senior Men’s Club. He established the Winding Lane Ranch and Kennel, was a referee for high school and college football and basketball, and taught dog obedience for many years with the City of Aiken.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Jeanne Meschter Warner; two daughters, Elizabeth Ann “Betsy” (Rick) Coles, Greenville, NC, Linda Jean (Chris) Smith, Bethesda, MD; a son, Charles O. (Maureen) Warner, III, Aiken; seven grandchildren; one great grandchild; a sister, Sarah Elizabeth Warner, Wilmington, DE.
A son, Robert Alan Warner, preceded him in death.
