AIKEN, SC - Born October 12, 1919 in Aiken, SC to Clifton Lafayette and Clara Summerall Holley, Ferrell Lafayette Holley died July 29, 2011, at the age of 91 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.
Following generations of family, he was a life long Aiken resident who enjoyed recalling his time growing up in Aiken among an abundant, caring family and many friends. He attended Aiken Institute and graduated from Aiken High School in it's first graduating class. He graduated from Clemson A & M College in 1941 as it's Senior Platoon Leader; "receiving his diploma in one hand and his commission into the US Army in the other". As an Army Air Corps B-25 pilot he flew 62 combat missions into Italy, Southern France, Austria and "got shot at on every one of them".
In 1945 he married Rebecca Goldfinch of Conway, SC and returned to Aiken to work in family businesses including Holley Hardware Company, Aiken Stone Company, The Commercial Hotel, M. E. Holley Brothers Farms, The Millbrook Company and the Holley Company. He was an avid supporter of his hometown in many capacities.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 54 years, Rebecca, his sister, Sadie Holley Watson, and his brothers, Selma Emmette Holley and Martin Eugene Holley.
He is survived by his children, Ferrell L. (Larry) Holley, Jr. (Ann), Charles S. Holley (Kirby) and Sarah Holley Guida (Stephen); grandchildren, Celeste H. Henderson, Martin M. Holley, Phillip R. Merry Jr., Dora Holley Hogg, Ann Summerall Holley; nine great grandchildren; and known lovingly as "Uncle Ferrell" to many nieces and nephews.
The Family wishes to thank the many caregivers and friends for their love and support of our father.
He will be forever missed.

A graveside funeral service will be held on Monday, August 1, 2011, at 11:00 am, at the Millbrook Baptist Church Cemetery with the Reverend Cathy Cole officiating.
The family will receive guests, after the service in the church atrium.
