AIKEN, SC -- MURRAY LOUIS MADEEN, JR., 76, beloved husband of Doree Madeen, died Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at MCG Health in Augusta, GA.
Born in Missoula, MT, Mr. Madeen was a son of Virginia Madeen and the late Murray Louis Madeen, Sr., he grew up in Butte, MT where he was married in 1953. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and received his B.S. in Chemical Engineering from MSU. Mr. Madeen worked as a chemical engineer for 17 years in Hanford, WA and as a computer specialist in Saudi Arabia for 14 years. He retired in 1994 and had lived in Aiken for the last 17 years. He was a member of Cedar Creek Church, where he served as an usher and was a volunteer at Christ Central in Aiken.
Survivors, in addition to his wife of 58 years, Doree; his mother, Virginia of Hamilton, MT; five children, Gladys (Butch) Burns, Pasco, WA, Shelley (Don) Peterson, Richland, WA, Murray L. "Chip" (Michelle) Madeen, Spokane, WA, Jenny (Chip) Jones, Aiken and Doree Jo (Mike) McKellips, Aiken; his grandchildren, Traci, Kelli, Cammi, Jesee, Sarah, Murray L."Chip" IV, Christopher, Brandon, Nicole, Dalton, Miranda, Joshua, Jeremiah, Candice, Emily, Ally, Russell and Cody; his great-grandchildren, Tyler, Averi, Declan, Ashtyn, Kelsey, Brayden, Jace and Emerson; a sister, Virginia (Bob) Opitz, Victor, MT; a brother, Craig (Kay) Madeen, Midland, TX and a brother-in-law, Bill Jones, Deer Lodge, MT. He was preceded in death by a sister, Gail Jones.
A Memorial Service will be held Monday, August8, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Cedar Creek Church with Rev. David Hardy officiating.
