Olin Owen Osbon

Aiken – Mr. Olin Owen Osbon, 78, died Monday, August 15, 2011 Mr. Osbon was a lifelong resident of Aiken, and son of the late Authur Jackson Osbon, Sr., and Lizzie Bell Rumbley Osbon. He served in the US Navy during the Korean War and witnessed the first hydrogen bomb explosion in the Marshall Islands during Operation Ivy. He was the owner of Triple "O" Commercial Art and Printing. In addition to being a printer and artist, he was an engineer and retired from civil service at Fort Gordon. He was the former President of the Aiken County Heart Board, Vice Chairman of the Aiken County School Board, and President of the Aiken County Shrine Club. He is a member of the American Legion, the Jamil Shrine Center, the Hejaz Shrine Center, and the First Baptist Church in Aiken where he was a former Sunday School teacher. He is the current President of the Saluda Shrine Club. Mr. Osbon is survived by his loving wife Sylvia Anne George Osbon; two daughters, BonnieAnne Osbon (Warren) Fulghum, Aiken, Christine "Christy" Oline Osbon, Aiken; a grandson, Dawson Owen Fulghum; six sisters, Mary Bell, Aiken, Ruth Cook, Aiken, Esther Camp, Aiken, Faye (Ford) Morris, Alabama, Naomi (Bobby) Pennington, Texas, Jewel (James) Padgett, Aiken; three brothers, Nathan (Dessie) Osbon, Aiken, David (Leo) Osbon, Aiken, Richard (Vivian) Osbon, Aiken and preceded in death by Authur Jackson Osbon, Jr. Pallbearers will be; Chad Woodward, Lennie George, Eddie Bell, Paul Roe, Bill Kirkland, Frank West, Steve Talbert, Joseph Kass. Honorary pallbearers will be; Bill Bodie, Soc Fallaw, J.J. Miles, Jimmy Miles, Graylin Jay, Jeff Jay, Dr. Jim Tankersley, Kevin Orander. Funeral services will be held at 5:00 PM Friday, August 19, 2011 at First Baptist Church, Aiken with the Reverends Edgar Foster and Bruce Fox officiating. Entombment will follow in Bethany Cemetery with Military Honors and Masonic Rites. Memorials may be directed to the Greenville Shriner’s Hospital for Children, 950 West Faris Road, Greenville, S.C.
