AIKEN, SC -- WADE B. WINGO, 83, beloved husband of Theresa F. Wingo, died Monday, August 15, 2011 at his residence after a 6 month battle with cancer.
Born in Akron, OH, Mr. Wingo was a son of the late Wade B and Adelle Tackitt Wingo, Sr. He served as a Master Sergeant in the U.S. Army in Korea. Mr. Wingo began his career working in the space program for Martin- Marietta in Colorado. He then spent the rest of his career with Bechtel working in San Francisco. He lived in Saudi Arabia for 2 years and worked on building the City of Jubail. He moved to Aiken 21 years ago and was a supervising engineer with Bechtel at the Savannah River Site when he retired. He traveled around the world twice and was an avid fisherman and loved cooking.
Survivors in addition to his wife Theresa; include a daughter, Nancy Wingo, Satellite Beach, FL; a son, Wade B. Wingo III and his wife Kim, Santa Cruz, CA; a grand-daughter, Shane Wingo-Reisbacher; a brother, Dale Wingo, Richardson, TX and his beloved Westie, Mr. Bones.
