Elma "Granny" Frierson Britton

AIKEN, SC -- ELMA FRIERSON "GRANNY" BRITTON, 84, widow of James Davis Britton, Sr., died Thursday, August 18, 2011 at her residence. Born in Manning, SC, Mrs. Britton was a daughter of the late Travis Beattie and Loretta Virginia Coker Frierson. She grew up in Sumter, and had lived in Aiken since 1953 and was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church. She retired from Owens Corning Fiberglass. Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Hagan (Hans) Lutz and Brenda Rabun (Steve) Piccolo; and two sons, F. Marion (Pat) Britton and James Davis (Connie) Britton, Jr., all of Aiken; eight grandchildren, Stacy Britton, Todd (Liz) Britton, Chris Hagan, Greg (Meredith) Hagan, Brian (Shannon) Rabun, Jason Rabun, Josh (Tara) Britton and Drew Britton; three great-grandchildren, Tucker Rabun, Hunter Britton and Baylee Rabun; two sisters-in-law, Annette Frierson and Dorthanell Frierson, both of Sumter; and two brothers-in-law, Robert Lee Timmons and Kenneth Alexander, both of Sumter. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Saturday at Shellhouse - Rivers Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 3:00 PM at Lighthouse Baptist Church with her son, The Rev. F. Marion Britton officiating. Interment will follow in Aiken Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
