Marguerite Noah Stubbins

Marguerite Noah Stubbins of Aiken, SC, went to be with her Lord on August 19, 2011. Mrs. Stubbins, a native of Greensboro, NC, was the widow of George Hobart Stubbins who predeceased her in 1986. Mrs. Stubbins was a life-long member of Muir’s Chapel United Methodist Church and a graduate of Greensboro Senior High School. She was born on May 7, 1917, in Greensboro and attended Muir’s Chapel and Lindley Schools. At Muir’s Chapel UMC, Mr. and Mrs. Stubbins taught the Senior High Sunday School Class in the 1950’s. Mrs. Stubbins was also a member of the choir, the Lee Sunday School Class and was the pianist for the Tom Baxter Sunday School Class. She was also a member of the Truth Seekers Sunday School Class at Aiken’s First Baptist Church. She was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed all kinds of handiwork, including tatting and quilting. Mrs. Stubbins is survived by her son, Eddie Stubbins (Phyllis) of Lake Norman, NC and her daughter Marion Mobley (Leonard) of Aiken, SC. She had three grandchildren: Anne Powers (John) of Winston-Salem, NC; Ed Stubbins (Ashley) of San Mateo, CA; and Allison Basile (Jay) of Aiken, SC; and four great-grandchildren, Robbie and Elizabeth Powers, George Stubbins and Chandler Basile. She has one surviving sister, Frances Baldwin of San Antonio, Texas. A brother, Walter Noah, and three sisters, Annie Noah, Eloise Hunt and Mary Louise Strader predeceased Mrs. Stubbins. A family Graveside Service will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, August 23 at the Muir’s Chapel UMC Cemetery and a memorial service following at 11:00 AM at Muir’s Chapel UMC, with the Reverends John Kale, Bobby Boggan and Dan Money officiating. The family will greet friends after the Memorial Service in the church vestibule. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to Muir’s Chapel UMC, 314 Muir’s Chapel Road. Greensboro, NC 27410 There will be a time for visitation in Aiken at the First Baptist Church on Thursday, August 25 from 5-7 p.m. in the Church Parlor.
