Charles Russell Snyder

AIKEN, SC -- CHARLES RUSSELL SNYDER, SR., 88, widower of Elizabeth Strickland Snyder, died Thursday, August 25, 2011. A native of Brunson, in Hampton County, SC, Mr. Snyder was a son of the late Elliott Pinkney and Bertha Harrison Snider. He moved to Aiken County in 1952 and had lived in Aiken since 1958. He was a member of Pentecost United Methodist Church of Warrenville, SC and the Evergreen Lodge 153 in Hampton, SC. He loved gardening. Survivors include four sons, Charles Russell Snyder, Jr., Aiken, James Oliver (Terri) Snyder, Clarks Hill, Robert Wayne Snyder, Columbia and Larry Ray Snyder, Columbia; two grandchildren, Michelle Snyder (Jason) Goings, Graniteville and Joshua Patrick Snyder, Columbia; four great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Charles Russell Snyder III. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 3:00 PM at Shellhouse - Rivers Funeral Home with The Rev. Michael Terry officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Josh Snyder, Jason Goings, Amos Snider, Jr., George Snider, Charles Snyder IV and Derald Strickland. Honorary Pallbearer will be Curt McKay. The family will receive friends from 2 - 3 PM Sunday at the funeral home.
