AIKEN - Mrs. Laura Clowe Holley, widow of H. Earle Holley, Jr. passed from this life on September 12, 2011.
Mrs. Holley was the daughter of the late Richard Davis Clowe and Bernice Woodward Clowe of Aiken, South Carolina.
Mrs. Holley was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Aiken for 70 years. She served as a member of the Aiken Hospital Auxiliary and a member of the Board of Directors of Hopeland Gardens and Rye Patch. Last year, Laura was the only active charter member of the Pine Needle Garden Club as well as a member of Women of Woodside Plantation and various other social events clubs.
Mrs. Holley is survived by two sons and one daughter: Joseph Simpson Amos IV Holley (Faye), Henry E. Holley, III (Kay) and Laura H. Angelos (Arthur). She is also survived by eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Laura is also survived by her loyal companion Gerald Devitt
Mrs. Holley is also predeceased by 1st Lt. Joseph Simpson Amos, III, who was killed in combat in World War II.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Dr. David Cozad officiating. A private interment will take place in Bethany Cemetery prior to the service. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall following the service.
Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Pine Needle Garden Club.
