AIKEN - Mr. Blair Coe Watkins, 76, died Saturday, October 8, 2011. The family will receive friends at 1:00 PM Wednesday at Talatha Baptist Church with a funeral service following at 2:00 PM. The Reverend Kevin Carter, the Reverend David Lester and the Reverend David Pickens will officiate . Interment will follow in Southlawn Cemetery with Masonic Rites. Pallbearers will be Mark Epps, Curtis Young, Jr., Jim Randal, Troy Ussery, Spence Beard, Richard J. Nolan, II and John Hancock. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the New Ellenton Masonic Lodge #389. Mr. Watkins was born in Toccoa, GA, a son of the late Dave Jackson and Merle Cortez Coe Watkins. He moved to Aiken in 1953, and worked for E.I. DuPont and Westinghouse at the Savannah River Plant. He was a member of Talatha Baptist Church and the New Ellenton Masonic Lodge #389. He is survived by his beloved wife, Alma Pickens Watkins; two daughters, Rebecca (Noel) Reese, New Holland, Rhonda (Thad) Burleson, Windsor; two sons, Brent (Debra) Watkins, Aiken, Darren (June) Watkins, Aiken; 11 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; a sister, Edna (Rodney) Moore, Toccoa, GA; a brother, Rex (Dot) Watkins, Toccoa, GA; sister-in-law, Juddie Watkins, Livonia, GA. Mr. Watkins was preceded in death by a sister, Atha Padgett Heard and a brother, Jack Watkins. Memorials may be directed to the Talatha Baptist Church Building Fund, 361 Talatha Church Rd., Aiken, SC 29803.
