Martha Walker Hair

AIKEN, SC -- On November 21, 2011, Martha Walker Hair went to be with her Lord and family and friends. She was 94. She was preceded in death by her husband George Hamel Hair Sr. in 1982, her parents Mr. Josiah Jennings Walker and Iola Wannamaker Warren of Allendale, South Carolina, and four brothers and two sisters. She was born in Allendale South Carolina on September 2, 1917. She graduated from Brenau College with a teacher’s degree in Education. Mrs. Hair after teaching got her Real Estate License and worked with Laird Agency in Aiken for years. Mrs. Hair enjoyed golf and a wonderful game of bridge, of which she was one of the best players. She was a member of South Aiken Presbyterian Church. She and her husband George were members of a dance club, golf club, and dinner club. She was a world traveler who traveled extensively with her daughter, also loved trips to beach and other places, cooking for family and friends. As the matriarch of the family, a women of Great Spirit, loved to entertain family and friends, particularly with many “Jokes” and enjoyed life to it’s fullest. Surviving are her daughter and son in law Trisha and Tom Anderson of Aiken. Son and daughter in law George and Pat Hair of Atlanta and Son Warren Hair of Georgetown. Her Sister in Law Beth Walker of Columbia. Mrs. Hair also enjoyed her three children, seven grandchildren, and sixteen great grandchildren. Her six granddaughters are Michelle and husband Dr. Steve Crossland of Mount Pleasant, SC, Dr. Kimberly and husband John McElveen of Columbus Georgia, Ashley and Ray Turner of Senoia Georgia, Carol and husband Robbie Richardson of Aiken, Christine and Husband Jamal Asey of Goose Creek, SC, Lauren Dellinger of Neptune Beach, Florida. Her only grandson Kevin and wife Dawn Hair of Sarasota Florida. Martha was more than a loving and caring mother, wife, and grandmother. She was truly and dearly loved by her daughter and two sons, grandchildren and other family and friends A private Service for immediate family will be held later at Gillette Cemetery in Allendale, South Carolina.
