Ruth "Abuela" Alicia Gomez Acevedo

AIKEN - Mrs. Ruth Alicia Gomez "Abuela" Acevedo, 82, died Friday, November 25, 2011. Mrs. Acevedo was born in Santa Ana, El Salvador, a daughter of the late Manuel and Bertha Cerna Gomez. She moved to Aiken in 1992, and assisted in her family's day care, The Little Olive Tree. She was also a member of Millbrook Baptist Church. She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth (Buddy) Crowder, Aiken; four grandchildren, Zandra (Trey) Ledbetter, Sharlene (Gavin Reily) Dubon, Estephanie (Rocky) Timms, Carrie Leigh Crowder; five great grandchildren, Michael May, Madison and Alex Ledbetter, Claire Reily and Cole Timms. The family has requested that memorials be sent to the Alzheimer's Association, 3223 Sunset Blvd Ste 100, West Columbia, SC 29169. The family will receive friends at the home of Elizabeth and Buddy Crowder, 1007 Murray Ct., Aiken, on Tuesday, November 29 from 7-9 PM.
