AIKEN - On November 25th 2011, JOHN ANDY BROWN, SR. 81, went to be with his Lord, family, and friends in Heaven. He was preceded in death by his parents Jess Martin and Roxie Florida Brown and his brother Garner Brown of Bryson City, N.C.
He was born in Bryson City, N.C. on January 23rd 1930 and graduated in 1948 from Swain County High School. He served in the military as a Corporate in the Army during the Korean War. He retired from DuPont after 35 years of service and continued work in his own Architectual Drafting Firm, John Brown and Associates. He was a member of Millbrook Baptist Church and was a former training union director. He was also a member of the Aiken Jaycees, The Aiken Chamber of Commerce and the Kiwanis Club of Aiken. He also loved to fish and hunt and to visit his parents homeplace in the Smokey Mountains and to play golf with his friends. His favorite place to fish was in Florida with Ben. He took a lot of pride in designing and renovating Churches as well. He will be greatly missed but Heaven has gained an angel.
John A. Brown was a man known as a builder and designer of peoples lives in Aiken through the many house and business plans he provided. He was known by his family and friends as one fine man. His kids were always proud that "John Brown was their dad".
Survivors include his wife, Anna K. Brown, two daughters, Joni Lynn Brown, Aiken, and Deborah Ann (Ben) Kennerly of Amelia Island FL, and two sons, Andy (Terri) Brown Jr. and Tracy (Vickie) Brown also of Aiken. He also had five grandchildren whom he adored and was very proud of; Leah Gosline, Trey Brown, Travis Brown, Katie Brown and Anna Brown and two great grandchildren, Sayla Kennerly and Roxanna Novotasky. The family wishes to thank Aiken Regional Medical Centers for their dedication and support during his illness.
Pallbearers will be Trey Brown, Ben Kennerly, Jessie DuPree, Justin Swanson, Harold Enloe, and Larry Eubanks. Honorary Pallbearers will be Len Zody, Bob Schanhals, Bill Scroggins, Don Shaffer, James Cagle, and Ernst Ringle.

The Family will receive friends Monday, November 28 from 5 - 7 PM at Shellhouse-Rivers Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, November 29 at 11 AM at Millbrook Baptist Church with the Reverend's Eddie Leopard and Clint Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Historic Bethany Cemetery.
