Daniel Pons Bacot, Sr.

AIKEN - Mr. Daniel Pons Bacot, Sr., 76, died Thursday, December 15, 2011 in West Columbia, SC. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday at St. Paul Lutheran Church with the Reverend Dr. Robert T. Byrne officiating. Interment will follow in Bethany Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ernie Allen, Tommy Wessinger, Marshall Cain, Tommy Gibbs, Ronnie Garrett, Walt Guy, Paul Bell and Freddie Moore. Honorary pallbearers will be Employees of Hutson-Etherredge Ins. Company and members of the Aiken Rotary Club. Mr. Bacot was born in Cheraw, SC, a son of the late Eugene Greyard and Lina Quick Bacot. Dan had been a resident of Aiken since 1974, and was an insurance agent. He was an avid golfer and member of Houndslake Country Club where he recorded two holes in one. He was a member of Aiken Rotary, Aiken Sertoma and active in the Republican Party. He was an avid Gamecock fan, having once served as treasurer of the Aiken County Gamecock Club. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. He is survived by two daughters, Allison (Greg) Smith, West Columbia, SC, Aimee Lindler, Columbia; a son, Daniel Pons (Veronika) Bacot, II, Columbia; five grandchildren, Caroline Christi Lindler, Sloan Rhyne Lindler, Sullivan Daniel Lindler, Sasha Nicole Bacot and Eugene Simonski; two sisters, Mildred Bacot Hammond, Chesterfield, SC, Peggy Bacot Calcutt, Florence, SC; two brothers, Irving Laverne Bacot, Aiken, Bobby Bacot, Laurinburg, NC. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Janice Sligh Bacot.
