AIKEN - Mr. Goldman Eller went to be with his Lord and Savior December 18th, 2011.
A native of Cherokee County, North Carolina and longtime resident of Jackson, South Carolina he was the Son of the late Guy S. Eller and Ethel “Granny” Ledford Eller of Murphy, North Carolina.
Goldman was preceded in death by a Sister, Dorothy Hamby and her husband the late Jess Hamby of Ducktown, Tenn.
He is survived by his beloved spouse of 63 years, Helen Garrett Eller of Jackson SC; two children, Deborah Eller Snyder and her husband Charles of Charlotte, NC; and Michael Edward Eller of Jackson SC; two grandchildren, Nathan Edward Snyder and his wife Kendall of Greenville, SC and Michael Garrett Eller of Jackson, SC and; two Great Grandchildren, Claire Garret Snyder and Camdyn Harris Snyder of Greenville, SC and a sister-in-law Bonnell Garrett Gulley of Huntsville, Alabama.
Also surviving are three brothers and five sisters; Willie Eller and his wife Georgia Mae of Turtletown, Tenn.; Boyd Eller of Charleston, South Carolina; Guy Guindle Eller and his wife Jeannie of Acworth, Georgia; Susie Ledford; Shelby Avery and her husband David; Lorraine Kilpatrick and her husband Richard and Willa Mae Allen and her late husband Willard all of Murphy, NC.; and Shirley Hensley and her husband Owen of Turtletown, Tenn.
Goldman was a WWII veteran of both the U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force being honorably discharged from both. He was a retiree from DuPont-Savannah River Site near Aiken, SC and served for 36 years in various capacities rising to the rank of Captain in the Security and Safeguard Patrol Division. He was a First Aid, EMT and a Special Weapons instructor for DuPont and served on the South Carolina Governor’s 20 Pistol Team as a Master Shooter. He and Helen are members of the South Aiken Church of God.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday December 22 at South Aiken Church of God with the Reverend Bruce Fox and the Reverend Kenny Murphy officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial with military honors will follow in Southlawn Cemetery in Aiken.
Pallbearers will be Michael G. Eller, Michael E. Eller, Charles Snyder, Nathan Snyder , Guindle Eller, and Pastor Kenny Murphy. Honorary pallbearers will be the Ambassador Sunday School Class.
