John Albert Morton

July 17, 1928 — December 20, 2011

AIKEN - Mr. John Albert Morton, 83, died December 20, 2011. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday at Memorial Baptist Church with the Reverend Charles Jenkins officiating. Interment will follow in Bethany Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Scott Patterson, Keith Spires, Taylor Barden, Butch Collie, Dempsley Day, Ralph Day and Dale Morton. Honorary pallbearers will be the Memorial Baptist Church Men's Sunday School Class, Carroll Williamson and Joe Cone. Mr. Morton was born in Marlow, GA, a son of the late Otto H. and Fannie Cook Morton. He was a lifelong resident of Aiken and was a gas foreman for SCE&G. He was an avid golfer and member of Houndslake Country Club. As a member of Memorial Baptist Church, Mr. Morton served as a Deacon and a Sunday school teacher. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. Survivors include his beloved wife of more than 64 years, Faye Rearden Morton; three daughters, Frances Carter, Grovetown, GA, Kittie Ann Morton, North Augusta, Cindy (Ken) Cooper, Charlotte, NC; eight grandchildren, Clay Carter, Jennifer Akins, Adrienne Patterson, Allison Spires, Lauren Alexander, Beth Barden, Dawn Cullipher, Karen Sanders; 15 great grandchildren, Hannah Akins, Blake Akins, Parker Spires, Paige Spires, Molly Scott Patterson, Gracie Patterson, Finley Patterson, Nash Alexander, Oliver Barden, Sullivan Barden, Maddie Carter, Emma Carter, Carter Cullipher, Cade Cullipher, Caylee Cullipher; a sister, Bessie Emeneker, Aiken; a brother, Otto Morton, Aiken. Memorials may be directed to Memorial Baptist Church, 3100 Vaucluse Rd., Aiken, SC 29801, or Regency Hospice, 105 Summerwood Way, Aiken, SC 29803.
