AIKEN, SC – VERNON LEE, 69, beloved husband of Martha Preston Lee, died Thursday, August 2, 2007 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers. A native of Georgetown, SC, Mr. Lee was a son of Margie Lee Harrell and the lateRobert E. Lee. He had lived in Aiken most of his life and was a veteran of the United States Air Force. Vernon was the retired owner of the Western Sizzlin Steak House in Aiken. He was a member and deacon at Solid Rock Baptist Church and was a former reserve police officer for the city of Aiken and a former member of AMCUCS. Survivors, in addition to his wife, include his mother of Horrell Hill, SC, two daughters, Donna (Jack) Lee, New Ellenton, Michele (Eddie) Shearer, Langley, four grandchildren, Jessica Turner, Tiffany Lee, Blake Shearer and Cody Shearer, two great-grandchildren, Kylie “K. J.” Hutto and Clayton Langford, four sisters, Carolyn (Wes) Weszel, Denver, NC, Frances Bachman, Lexington, SC, Betty Johnson, Georgetown and Peggy Lee, Las Vegas, NV, three brothers, Charlie (Nancy) Lee, Myrtle Beach, Jimmy (Donna) Lee, Lexington and Bobby (Deb) Lee, Denver, NC and a half-sister, Joann Harrell, Greenville, SC. Funeral services will be held Monday at 2:00 PM at Solid Rock Baptist Church with The Rev.’s Jamie Rodgers, Ronnie Powell and John Arthur officiating. Interment, with military honors will follow in Southlawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jason Baughman, Donald Shearer, Clem Campbell, Carl Simmons, Bear Woodrum and D. J. Hunter.
