AIKEN, SC -- Mildred J. Franck, 98, of Aiken, entered into rest on Thursday, December 29, 2011, at the Pepper Hill Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was predeceased by her husband, John L. Franck and her oldest son, Kenneth E. Franck.
She is survived by two sons, John (Jack) L. Franck (Marilyn) of Aiken and Richard D. Franck (Patricia) of Melbourne, FL; one grandson, Eric Franck (Jobe) of Elm Grove, WI; five granddaughters, Michelle Gore (Austin) and Paige McEver (Mike) of Aiken, Jill Burns (Jeff) of Jacksonville, FL, Jaime Sajovic (Scott) of Oregon City, OR and Morgan Kay (Jonathan) of Seattle, WA; and eleven great-grandchildren.
Mildred was born in Oshkosh, WI on November 1, 1913 to George and Mabel Edick. Prior to her husband’s death, they lived in Louisville, KY, Danville, IN and Fort Wayne, IN. Mildred moved to Aiken in 1990. Her health had deteriorated the past several years and was placed in the Pepper Hill Nursing Home in September.
Mildred had earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from the University of St. Francis, Fort Wayne, IN in 1964, a Master’s Degree in Education from Ball State University, Muncie, IN in 1969 and a Master’s Degree in English as a Second Language from Ball State University, Muncie, IN in 1983.
She worked as a secretary for the Federal Aviation Administration and taught Kindergarten. For many years, she was very active in the Samoyed Club of America. One of her Samoyeds was an American and Canadian Champion. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and Millbrook Baptist Church. Interment will be at Cave Hill Cemetery in Louisville, KY. A memorial service for the family will be held at the graveside.
