AIKEN, SC -- JAMES E. GERTH, 78, died Friday, February 24, 2012 at his residence in Aiken. A native of Dayton, KY, Mr. Gerth was a son of the late Elmer and Florence McKee Gerth. He retired as Vice President of Marketing and Sales for Ziff Davis Enterprise in New York. Survivors include his daughter, Kay Byrnes; three step-daughters, Melissa Nay, Jennifer Hughes and Angie Perkins and 11 grandchildren. Funeral services were private.
