AIKEN – Joan Howarth died August 26, 2007 in Aiken. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, September 1, 2007 at 11:00 AM at St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church. A Celebration of Life reception will be held immediately following the Mass at Houndslake Country Club. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the American Diabetes Association, 2711 Middleburg Drive, Suite 205, Columbia, SC 29204. Joan was a loving wife and a wonderful mother whose life included many accomplishments. She had an infectious sense of humor, an incredible zest for life and loving her family and friends was most important to her. From a very young age she had an avid love of music and was choir director of her Pittsburgh, PA church. She was a lifetime member and a spokesperson for Weight Watchers for many years. She was an accomplished tennis player and coached the Duquesne University’s Women’s Tennis Team. For the last several years, golf was her game and she was president of the Houndslake Women’s Golf Association. Joan was preceded in death by her mother, Bombina Brignola; father, Stephen Anthony Brignola; and her youngest son, David John Howarth. Survivors include her husband, Wesley Howarth, Sr., Aiken; children, Patricia Lynne Korb and husband Scott, Wesley Howarth, Jr. and wife Meggan, Pittsburgh, PA; sister Ann Booher and husband Bob, Burleston, TX; nephew Stephen Andrew Booher, Dallas, TX; grandchildren, Wesley, III, Trevor, Nolan, Nicole and Alexandra, Pittsburgh, PA.
