AIKEN, SC -- CAROL SAMPSON COPELAND STEINHAUSER, 72, widow of Pete Steinhauser, died Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at her residence.
A native of Trenton, NJ, Carol was a daughter of the late Frank and Miriam Winner Sampson. She was a graduate of the Columbia School of Nursing and was a registered nurse. She lived in Columbia for a number of years working as a nurse for the American Red Cross traveling the state with the Bloodmobile. She then moved to Aiken in the mid 1980's and worked for the Aiken County Health Department as a Home Health nurse.
Survivors include two sisters, Linda (Don) Litchford, Blythwood, SC and Cathy (Tommy) Coward, Aiken; and four brothers, Frank (Linda) Sampson, Homestead, FL, Harry (Caroline) Sampson, Aiken, Charles (Frances) Sampson, Hilton Head and Richard Sampson, Atlanta, GA.
The family wishes to offer a special thank you to close friends, Pat Dillow and Susan Kronberg for being there for Carol and seeing her thru to the end.
A Memorial Service will be held Friday at 3:00 PM at St. John's United Methodist Church with The Rev. Dr. George K. Howle officiating. The family will receive friends at the church following the service.
