AIKEN, SC – MRS. VIRGINIA GAIL SMITH JOLIN, 68, beloved wife of Robert F. Jolin, died Saturday, September 1, 2007 at Eden Gardens.
Mrs. Jolin was born on September 29, 1938 in Waukegan, Lake County, IL to Everett F. and Paula Margarette Terwilliger Smith. She was a graduate of Waukegan High School. She was married on August 13, 1960 in Arlington, VA to Robert F. Jolin who is a native of the Washington, DC area and retired from Northrop-Grumman Corporation. Mrs. Jolin was a member of the Edisto Island Community Church, Order of the Eastern Star, Channel Island Chapter No. 78 in California and was Worthy Matron of the Santa Barbara Chapter 501 in 1978.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, is her only son, Robert O. Jolin II and his wife Cathy of Laurel, MD, and her granddaughter, Christa Elizabeth Jolin. Other survivors are her first cousins, whom she considered sisters, Ms. Marly Divver of Boiling Springs, SC and Ms. Sharon Smith, a missionary in Ethiopia.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, September 11, 2007 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home, 715 East Pine Log Rd., Aiken, SC, with The Rev. Stan LaTorre of the Edisto Island Community Church officiating. Private inurnment will be in the Columbarium at First Presbyterian Church.
