Ida Weathers Hammond

AIKEN - Mrs. Ida Weathers Hammond, 93, died Sunday, March 25, 2012. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM Wednesday in the Shellhouse Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Dr. Fred W. Andrea III officiating. Interment will follow in Historic Bethany Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Barbara Smith Sunday School Class. Mrs. Hammond was born in Laurens, SC, and moved to Aiken with her husband, James Willis Hammond, in 1951. She was a member of First Baptist Church, the Town and Country Garden Club, was a Cub Scout den mother of Pack 121, Den 4, and was a Sunday School teacher. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, the Reverend Dr. Reilly (Julie) Hammond, Aiken; three grandchildren, Valerie Hammond, J.P. Hammond and Justin Brentnell; a sister, Virginia West, Laurens, SC. The family has requested that memorials be directed to First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 3157, Aiken, SC 29802.
