AIKEN, SC -- JULIUS RHETT RISHER, JR., 77, beloved husband of Angie Risher, died Thursday, March 29, 2012 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.
A native of Charleston, SC, Mr. Risher was a son of the late Julius Rhett and Mary Garris Risher, Sr. He was a graduate of Carlisle Military School and had lived in Aiken since 1954. He worked from 1952 for DuPont at the Savannah River Plant, first as a ENI mechanic, then as a supervisor and retired from Westinghouse in 1993 as the manager of the DC & S fire alarm systems group. Mr. Risher was a veteran of the SC Army National Guard. He was a member of the SRP Retiree Association. He was a dedicated family man and his hobbies included hunting, fishing, golf and reading.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 PM Saturday at Shellhouse - Rivers Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 3:00 PM at the funeral home with The Reverend Keith Stewart officiating. Interment will be private.
Survivors, in addition to his wife Angie, include two sons, Tony (Susan) Risher, Col., US Army, Ret., and Jeffery L. (Becky) Risher, Maj. US Army, Ret., five grandchildren, Capt. Ben (Brittany) Risher, US Army, Ft. Stewart, GA, Sarah Risher, Charleston, SC, Matthew Risher, studying on a Fullbright Fellowship in Germany , Jeremy Risher, Clemson University and Caleb Risher, Aiken, two great-granddaughters, Sadie and Samantha Risher, a sister, Miriam Risher, Clayton, GA, two brothers, Clyde Risher, Walterboro, SC and William (Linda) Risher, Greenville, SC and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Risher was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Evelyn Thomas.
