AIKEN, SC – JOHN LOUIS HOORMANN, 79, beloved husband of Ann Graves Hoorman, entered into rest Thursday morning April 12, 2012 at Pepperhill Nursing Home, Aiken, SC.
A native of New Orleans, LA, Mr. Hoormann was a son of the late John Sr., and Gladys LaBorde Hoormann. He was a retired well decorated police officer from the New Orleans Police Department. Mr. Hoormann was awarded the Medal of Valor in 1974. During the 1980’s, Mr. Hoormann was the Chief of Police for the Jackson Police Department in Jackson, SC. He was employed by Aiken County School District from 1991 to 2007.
Mr. Hoormann was preceded in death by his parents John, Sr and Gladys M. Hoormann from Gretna, Louisiana and his son, Charles Michael Callahan of Fort Lawn, SC.
Mr. Hoormann leaves behind his wife, Ann Graves Hoormann, Aiken, SC and five children, Patrick Gerald Hoormann, Olive Branch, MS; Michael John Hoormann, Gonzales, LA; Leigh Ann Callahan, Lancaster, SC; Allyson Hoormann Campbell, Evans, GA; Anna Hoormann, Aiken, SC, 13 Grandchildren, Ashley, Alex and Ryan Hoormann, Cody Hoormann, Adam Callahan, Patricia Ann Callahan, Vincent Brown, Cassie Callahan, Jason Callahan, Stuart Campbell, Matthew Campbell, Cameron Hoormann and Lauren Bell, 8 Great Grandchildren and a brother, Darryl G. Hoormann, La Place, Louisiana.
A Requiem Mass will be celebrated Monday, April 16, 2012 at 1:00 PM at Saint Mary Help of Christian’s Catholic Church in Aiken SC
A visitation will be held Sunday, April 15, 2012 from 5 to 7 at Shellhouse- Rivers Funeral Home with a wake being held at 6:30 PM
The family would like to express their appreciation for the love and care that April Patterson, TiJuanna Carolina and Monica Jackson gave to Mr. Hoormann during his stay at Pepperhill Nursing Home.
