James Edward Holt II

AIKEN, SC -- JAMES EDWARD HOLT II, 44, beloved husband of Laurie Holt, died Friday, April 27, 2012 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers. A native of Kissimmee, FL, James was the son of Rosemary Frederick Holt and the late James Edward Holt, Sr. He was a graduate of Florida A & M University with a B.S. in political science and was a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity. James moved to South Carolina in 1988 and to Aiken in 1994. He was a program coordinator for the Economic Services Division of Aiken County Department of Social Services. He was active in the Aiken community and was a former Chairman of the Board of Directors of Aiken County First Steps for 3 years. He was also a board member of Aiken Barnwell Head Start and IMANI Group. James was a lifelong member of the AME Church and attended Cedar Creek Church. Survivors, in addition to his wife Laurie, include his mother, Rosemary, Kissimmee, FL, a daughter, Ashley Holt, Kissimmee, step-daughter, Carson Barcklow, Aiken, SC, three sisters, Kimberly (Reginald) Beverly, New Smyrna, FL, Donna (Donald) Hill, Dayton, OH and Janet McFadden, Kissimmee, niece, Rekia Beverly, Kissimmee, nephew, Nicholas McFadden, Kissimmee and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Gail and Roy Walden, Aiken. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 3:00 PM at Cedar Creek Church with Rev. David Hardy officiating. Additional services will take place at 11:00 AM Saturday, May 5, 2012 at Bethel AME Church in Kissimmee, FL. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.
